Marks/Inscriptions: H. 45 Hall, Samuel (1836-97) was born at Castle on, Derby shire and came out to N.Z. in '60 in the Mystery, with his mother, two brothers and a sister . They settled at Gov. Bay and lived in a stone house. ilo built it Aute likely C.A. Calvert q.v. o perhaps A.A. Dobbs q.v. Samuel Hall went to the s G8gold rush on the West Coast and did not return till '75. He was a very generous and hospitable man. He died 7.10.97 ag. 61 died marr. His mother was certainly Decimal Hall who 8bis 14.1.87 ag. 86. bur. Gov. Bay. His sister was certainly Rachel Hall who marr. at Gov. Bay 10.12.6 by Rev. q.v., E.A.Lingard Wm. Cowlin c lab. 30. One brother was admit certainly Thomas Hall qv. who marr. Grace Mose Cowlishaw house at Gov. Bay was washed away . He drove the coach from Gov. to Lylt. CA.S. Bruce) The other brother was probably Authored who marr. 19.2.73 Ellen Martha Harrin Samuel Hall does not appear to have been marr. or docs his name appear in the Gov. Bay Cem. LT. 12.10.97 : Gov.
