Marks/Inscriptions: G. 556 Go f thse , Thomas Watkins (1828 - 1919) was bern in A berg verney, Monmouth shir and arrived in N.Z. in '58 . He bought a farm at Lakes ile not long after he landed. Later he bought another farm in the Harewood Rd and this one he kept till 1917. He was a keen and experienced farmer and knew land values over mick of N.Z. married Lena Wood, matron of Bend go Hesp.
