They are looking at another man who appears to be in a dressing gown and has a dog at his feet. Titled:'A Sultry Morning in the Tropics. The photo is annotated: Johnston, Douglas Frene, Craven. An annotation on the page to the right of the photo reads: Sketches by Reginald Fairlie in "The Serious Syrian" a comic paper which I helped to edit on board the Union S S Syria on the voyage between England and Capetown.
