Marks/Inscriptions: W. 356 Weston , Thomas Shailer (1837- - 1912 was born in London and was admitted to practise as a barr. + ol. by Chief Justice Sir George Ar ney at Auck in ' 61. He practised for 2 years at Naw Plymouth. and then removed to Invercargill. In '64 he returned to Auck. and remained there till 73 In that year he was appointed district judge at Napier where he remained till '75. He then spent 5 years on the West Coast . He was asked to stand for Grey Valley in May 81 but declined chiefly be cause he was not qualified. He soon changed his mind and lid stand and was elected Inne '81. He was returned in 82 without having to address the electors . In Jan '0 3 he retired from Pax.t. on account of pressure f bu surest Sir James Hight when he was a lecturer at Canty Cell said to the writer that he was struck with 3 impression the precision and terse quality of his language . High ts extremely Conservative was that Weston s attitude towards questions of the day, . He was the extreme Antithesis of Bickerton in politics and social questions .
