He was interested in steeple chasing . his horse Free man won the Grand National Steeple chase in '91 marr. 22.9.87 at the Ch.Ch Cathedral by Bishop Harper Alice Henrietta (effie) youngest dau of John C. Thierens of Otaio and g dau of Rev. John Spray , Rector of Pitt Paton , riverton Devonshire. He d. at Webb St. Ch.Ch. 9.5.14 ag 54. family.
