Marks/Inscriptions: F. 187 Patterson, John ( -1921) was born in Co. Down , Ireland and came out in the Cardigan Castle in '77 , settled at Lake side and lived there f 20 years. He moved to sedge mere in 95 and carried the daily maul from Leeston to Taumutu. He leased a small farm thee as well. He was an office bearer of the Taumutu Church and a teacher in the Sunday Sch. The Maoris brought a fine wreath to his funeral. Anglican , Methodist and Presby. ministers joined in the service. The Maoris chanted a hyundai for him at the end of the service. marr.
