Marks/Inscriptions: F. 170 Paterson , John (1846-86) was a son of Andrew Paterson of Temuka . His father was an early Nelson settler and landed there in '42 . His father came to Canty and settled first at Timaru and later at Temuka.. They lived in a house at Timaru on the present site of the B.N.Z, Timaru. His father who owned a Mackenzie County rin and a good farm at Temuka died in '71 and left him well off. He became a member of the Temuka Rd. Bd , Li. Bench and other local bodies. His dcath was caused by diabetes, for which the treatment was then unknown. He d. at his home Spring field. Temuka 16.9.86 ag. 40 He was unmarried and was bey popular His sister Isabel mar. Rev. F.R.Inwood 30.1.78. 400 people were present at his funeral LT. 17.9.86 : 21.9.86.; Type of mark: Machine translation/Transcription; Notes: Machine translation by Mark Fryer
