Marks/Inscriptions: O. 137 Overton, Charles 1839-1927) a son of Thomas Overton of Meadow bank started farm ing on 330 ac. before his father died. His father directed by Married his will that his property should be sold . After Charles aid in 75 he went to manage Wal - cti on the Eye River and at that tame belonging ) Hon. J.T. Peacock . In 82 he moved to land on the north bank f the Eyre which he leased from Peacock and later bought. He called it Waipapa . He changed the Waste Wai iti frock over from half freds to merinos . Waipaipai ran along the Eyre river as far as where Swannanoa Railway station now stands . yankee Brown brought the name Swann aria from Americorps . Horatio James Wood q.v had babo built the homestead and laid ont the garden. He sold Waipapa in Dec. 1902 to Butler Bros. The family us ed to get pocket money by selling sparrow and let Eggs r which the Rod. Bd gave a dozen In 1903 or 04 he bought Winter slow from Donald Cameron and appointed Frank Paws on to manage it. In 1906 he sold Winter show to H.W. Phillips but he had to take it back after 3 years . His manager from then on was his son Guy. In about 1910 he sold the station again to ColinWrguhart + Wm. Logan who had both been with the Gerard s. fam. inf. Acland. C.F. Overton He was b. 8.10.39 d. 27.11.27.
