Marks/Inscriptions: O. 75 Olney, Her bert (1856-95) was born in London 5.4.56 and was educ at the City London School and at Nenchatel , Switzerland . He was a son r Wm. Olney, deacon of Spurge ons Tabernacle London He loft Eng. as a young man for Aust. and married there. He crossed to N.Z. an d after a time in the North Is settled in Ch.Ch and started in business as a wholesale hater d asher . His uncle was the senior partner in the form of Olney, Ans den + Co Alders gate, London wholesale hater d ashers . He was an enthusiastic member of the Baptist Church He was baptised by Spurge on at the age of 16.In 8 2 he joined the Oxford Terrace Baptis t Church and he became Deacon, truste , treas. and Supt. f the Sundry Sch. Just before his death he became paid for the Ride crafting f the inter ir of the Church. This was in memory of his eldest son Wm. Arthur who d. '94 He d. at Springfield 2.12.C 5 ag 39 from the after effects of influenza. a memorial porch was built to his memory - at the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church of ornamental N.E. Woods.
