Marks/Inscriptions: N. 21 1838- Nathan, Louis Edward 1 1904 was a merchant and comm. agent of Ch.Ch. and started business in 59 . He was elected to the first Com on. of the Ch.Ch. Mechanis Inst. in '59. In June '59 he started on a new lie with a big Advertising splash. Macintosh patent reversible Gots Water prop f coats , have sacks , india ruler air boots, patent air Cristo,s and patent india rubber life bells. He took Hyannis Marks into part. 10.6.61. In Mar. 162 he gave up retail business and became a geneal comm. agent and auction ser. A new store had jus t ban completed for him in High St. Fea May 6 . The Lylt. Tines said this building was ma surpassed in the Colony as a mercantile building . The upstairs was a spacious gallery 60' x 301. In Jan. '64 he presided over a meeting held to establish a Jewish Congregation and build a Synagogue .H. Joseph was Sec. and hose present included Hyam Marks, - Phillips , M. Harris , D. Davis . H. Moss He gave L100 towards the Jewish Synagogue . He was a director of the Grey River Coal Co Aug. 68. He bought the Town Hall ( the boy. was in liquidation) (3900 13.3.71 C.C.Ail man was the Auctione . However 1 16.12.25 says the sale fell through and Wm. Strange bought , t for £7000 in Sept. 73 o s the Tour Hall being then a burned out wiccli. Nathan had found the tilted faulty.
