For a short time he was a Warder in the Lylt. gaol. He worked then at Bene Cliffs for a year an d a year at Care. He then went to Timaru and worked with the surf boats. He worked for 2 years for Teschemaker at Otaio and bought 35 ac. from him and started farm ing for himself. He sold this land and bought 311 ac at Makikihi . He was a member of the Hunter Sch.
