Marks/Inscriptions: oM 332 Merce , Thomas (1838- ) was born at Belfast Ireland and was brought up as an engineer and followed his trade the. In ' 5 he came to . in the Victory . For a short time he was a Warder in the Lylt. gaol. He worked then at Bene Cliffs for a year an d a year at Care. He then went to Timaru and worked with the surf boats. He worked for 2 years for Teschemaker at Otaio and bought 35 ac. from him and started farm ing for himself. He sold this land and bought 311 ac at Makikihi . He was a member of the Hunter Sch.
