Marks/Inscriptions: J. 230. O Joyce, John (1850- was an early gardener in Ch.Ch. He came out in the Monarch and was gardener to R.H. Rhodes at Eli.wood. He started busin aas in Papanui Re in 80 and in 88 moved to Bligh Rd. He lived on the corner of Bligh Rd and what used to be Matson's Avi. - Cater changed to Condell v. He did a lot of planting in Papanui. He planted some fan palms near the Scott stature. He left the Joyce bequest. . marr. 13.6.77 Mary Fawcett - described as John Joyce , garden cg. 27.
