Marks/Inscriptions: H. 743 Hopkins , Arthur Phelps( ) was a son of a Devonshire schoolmaster. He went to sea and left his ship at Auck. and went into Firth s Flour hill. He came to Ch.Ch. and joined the stat of the Canty Froze feat Cor. at Belfast He rose to be works manager and later superintende the three works . He was fond of cricket and had a lot of sons ; trey could make up something approaching a family cricket team. He always wre a straw boater Ond a white cricket shirt. A ter Wey mouth left the C.F.1 (o which he wes the original Sec. ) Sir Geo Clod, then chairman of the Board, had to Jake over some of the functions of a manag ing director and he relied greatly an Hopkins for technical advice. Hopkins wrote a beautiful hand. He was the son of Samuel Hopkins. schoolmaster and of his wife Anna Marguerite Richards marr. 19.7.81 at Holy Trinity, Avon side by Rev. W.A.
