Marks/Inscriptions: H. 430 Henderson , James (1842. ) was born in the parish of Carnwarth , Lanark +shire, Scot. and learnt the trade of a blacksmith under his father. In 68 he came to Port Chalmers in the Schleswig Bride and worked at his trade at Oamaru for 1 4 years. He moved to Timaru and worked for John Elder for- 2 years and then entered into part. with Parson in a blacksmiths hirsi,ess After 6 years the part. was diss. and Henderson made his living as a raper + binder expert and journeyman till 198 when he settled at Upper Parr ora. He was a member of the Timaru volunteers for 3 years under Capt. Steward. marr.
