Marks/Inscriptions: H. 247 Harrison , William 1 was Wm. Whites toll collector on the bridge over the S. branch of the Waimak. He wrote to the Lylt. Times suggesting that Monday, 30.5.68 should be set apart as a day of public rejoicing to c e celebrate the Escape o f the Duke of Edinburgh from attempted assassination. He thought the bridge should be freed from tolls that day and he himself was willing to lose his days pay. ( No reply) In Jan 71 he Summoned a man called James Rosser for opening the toll bar and B2 driving through . Harrison ran after him to stop him and was knocked down and his feet were rn over Rosser was fined a pound. mavis 9.4.67 at the Wes. Chapel by Rev. T.
