Marks/Inscriptions: H. 240 Harris on Robert; applied to the Canty. Assoc. 7 a 50 ac. section and selected R.S. 275 Fay beyond the end of the Riccarton Road. His pre-emptive rights of 200ac. were R.S. 885, 1453, 1503; 16.26, 167, - 1686. The whole 250 ac were advertised for sale under the will of J.G. Rossiter (probably an absentee and advertised b y his agent) all this land was near the Racecourse. He brought out a frame house from England and set it up near the present gravel pit at Sock burn . It was called Lowther Cottage . The estate was later known as Court Barton. .Sept. 56 He set up a small wind mill. He was one of the two original church warden of St. Peters Riccarton.
