Marks/Inscriptions: the son of Tho . Harrison of Holy Ford H. 236 "Harris on, Henry James (1852 - 1920) was born in Co. Wex ord , Ireland and worked on his fathers farm until he left for N.Z. in the Souk ar in '75. He found work harvesting and took up contracting in the Killinchy Swamp. He went to Rakaia where he was joined by his brother Wm. and they took up 100 ac. together . They were successful and bought adjoi n ing land and later bought a threshing mill and ar engine. After 8 years the part. was dis. When he reached the peak of his carr he was farming 4500 ac and his fan was named Holly Forth . Besides his brother Wm. another brother Edward Butler came out in '91 and worked on Holley Forth, and later bought 632 ac. for himself, and George also came ont in 84 and joined Henry and William. He was a member of ( South Rakaia Rd. Bd and the Dorie Sch. Com in. He presented the site for the St. Patricks Anglican Church at Dorie. He was a successful breeder of light horses and of Border Leicester sheep and Berkshire pigs and was a winner of many prizes . He was a member of the Canty A. +P. Assoc. and of the C.J.C. marr. 12.8.86 Gertrude Lavinia Richards a sister of the Richards Bros of Dorie Having just left a meeting of the Ash. Hop. Bd he d. at Ash. 11.10.20 ag. 68.
