Marks/Inscriptions: H. 235. Harris on, Harry Patterson (1840 -1915) was a sn r of W. Harrison, pilot, of London. He was one o f the mist successful of the Lylt. boat builders. He had built boats for various local rowing clubs including the Lylt. Boating Club. At the ani ual meeting of the Club, E.W.Roper q.v defended Harrison against the artisan of the chairman who had lately said that it was no good Clubs bothering any more with N.Z. made boats - they must send to Aust. or Eng. Roper pointed out that the Lylt. Club with a locally made boat had recently beaten the Ch.Ch Club with their imported boats. Harrison was justified when the Lylt. Trades club won the champion race at Kaiapoi rowing his new boat the Farley. The nw was T.McMahon 1 . McDonald, 2, T.Hay, 3 and T. Ockford, 4 F. Messiter, cox. Dec. 70. He built the outi ig9or rang gig for the Lylt. Boating Club which was christened Mayflower by Mrs Murray Ayres ley. The ceremony took place fro Peter Cunning hams Yacht. Annie Ogle. This was a cedar 4 oar boat , 45' long, 20 "beam. Harrison himself rowed bow in the Lylt. B eating Clubs four, 70.71 and 71-72. He rowed in a Wining four in Dec. 71 and won a pewter ing prevented by W.L. Cameron (one of the Lylt. Camerons) .
