Marks/Inscriptions: H. 208 "Harris, Edward William (1838-1921 ) was the eldest son of Robt. o+ Mary Ann Harris and came out with them in the Steadfast arriving 6.6.51 . He was said to have learnt the plastering trade but he was only 1 3 when he arrived and was apprenticed to a baker in Lylt. In '54 he went to Okains Bay + remained there. He started pit. sawing and cleared some bush and sowed it down and started daring. He was on the comm. of the Okains Bay Cercla ting Library and Reading Room - a flourishing institution started bey Rev. Henry Torlesse. He was elected to the Okains Bay Rd. Bd. Mar. 72. He was chairman of the Okains Bay Chre Factory for 18 years and a director for 27. He was for 30 years chairman of The Okains Bay sch. comm. He and ano her Harris - Wm Silas Harris , known as Barny - both married Ansell sisters. The two Harris s were no relation. He was known as hide Bile. Sarah marr. Ann Ms Ansell she d. 1880 . She came out in Lady Nugent in '51 they had 8 ch. survived him. Sarah Ann d. 3 6.80 ag 43 marr. 2 widow of Ambrose Harris Aden) He d. Okains Bay 9.9.21 ag 86? sister Ann Elizabeth marr.
