Marks/Inscriptions: H. 138 Hansen, Carl (1844-1926) was born in Denmark . He was trained to be a saddler . He came out in the Glenmark which arrived 21.1.65 and settled at Kaiapoi and started there in his trade. He was bice - pe. of the Working mes Club and was the local leader of the Liberal Party . He was elected to the Kaiapoi Box. Coun. Jan. 83 and remained a council or for years. He was Mayor of Kaiapoi 1888 -90 ie. He was member of the Harb. Bd. and a J.P. In 91 he moved to the North Is. marr. (1) 24.11.74 at St. Johns Lat. Sq. by Rev. H.C. M.Watson Selma Wearing of Kaiapoi wa b. 5 She d. at Kaiapoi 28 .8.86 ag. 34 marr.
