Marks/Inscriptions: H. 136 Hannah , William (18 54 - ) was born in Renfrewshire , Scot. and was brought up as a coal miner and began to work as a trapper in the pit when he was only 10 years old . He came to N.Z. in the Jesse Osborne in 75 and after a short time at Ashburton, went to Sheffield and worked in Gibson s coal mise till '82. He then followed the Woodstock rush "on the west Coast and in 186 took up cvalmining again at Denniston. When Cheviot Hills was opened for settlement he drew a section of 120 ac. L.1.P. was a member of the Domett ch. Comm. marr. '74 a dau. of E. Foster of Hamilton , Scot. sons 2 dau. ) William Hannah 24 of Ayn shire , groom , his wife Eliz. 20, + Isabella inf. arrived by Wm.
