Marks/Inscriptions: H. 93 Hamlyn , Thomas1 son of Wm. Hamlyn, manufacturer and Mary his wife, bought Kings borough in the dist. of Claremont near Timaru from John Macintosh in 180 ; it was f 2000 ac. In 185 he sold 800 ac. from the Whale bones to Mt. Horrible to George Hampton Rhodes . Han lyn did a lot of tree planting and also planted a fine orchard . In '94 he sold his farm to George O. Marsh of Templeton. s In '81 he and Henry Ford of Glen iti imported ni couple of beales and he built Kennels at King brough. The hounds were selected by his brother John Han lyn who was master of the Dart vale Hunt in Devonshire Ch English huntsman called vie brought them out Hamlyn was master for 2 years and was succeeded then by J.S. Rutherford of Albury . The yer was huntsman; and Melville Gray was Sec. The was the begun ing of the South Canty Hunt Club. marr 15.7.84 at St. Mary's , Timaru Mary Ashton b. Lacs. Eng. dau of R.S. Ashton goo. agent and Mary Shock sister of Mrs Edward Elworthy. The head of the Hamlyn family was Calm dy Pollexfen of Le wood and Pas hive Co. Devon who marr. 18.1.75 Farmyard Bedford only dau of Richard coss of Du yards Hist. of Claremont : St. Mary's Timaru, M.R.
