Marks/Inscriptions: s a G. 58a Garrard, William (1836 -1926 ) was born in Eng. Nov. '36 and came to Nelson in '66 and on to Ch. Ch. on 174. He was a gunsmith by trade. His first shop was in Victoria St and from there he moved to Cashel St. near Tattersall.s He made one mor moe. to + Manchester St. He retired about 1906 He took a great in test in simmering and life saving ; for many years he was instructor in swimming to the B.H.S. married his wife Sarah Emily - d. 12.11.22 ag. 78 He d. 22.9.26 89 4 sons. bur. Addn Cem. W. G. of Ch.Ch. Joseph Lylt. manager of Kinsey + Co C.W.Char son Chel Inspector of Schools , Auck. H.F. Andrews + Beaven Ch.Ch. His brother was Hon.
