Marks/Inscriptions: G. 450 The two prime movers were John Anders on and Wm . Wilson. The Rov. George Grants stipend was to be £350 a year. and he was inducted in the old Town Hall 20.4.64. The first church of St. Pauls was built in Lichfield St. near Madras St and was opened 19.5.67 almost free of debt. -500 had been realised by a bera organised by S.C. Farr and Dan Ree. E. John Miln of Halswell also took a part. St Pails was the first Presby. church in N.Z. at which a haro un was used. Grant was a delicate man and the work in Ch.Ch. was too much for him .
