Marks/Inscriptions: G.3.19. Graham , David (1838 -1917) was born near Riponui Yorks and learnt the trade o y a wheel wright til he was 22. After 3 years at Leeds , where he married he decided to emigrate to N.Z. where he landed in '64. ( according to Cyclop NZ. by the British Empire ; but his name is not in the pass. list , but in in the Devonshire which arrived a few weeks lter ). Hesetted in the Rangiora dist. and bought land at South brook where he lived for 15 years. He took an active part in building a Wesleyan Church and a district school (He was chairman n of the Sch. com m. Mar. 73. He then sold his son all farm to Steggall the miller and bought a larger one at Horrelville Where he lived for 5 years . He leased this farm to his son Arthur who married in and he leased Bet hanger, J.C. Bays farm and worked t for 4 years. In '85 he built a comfortable house in King St. Rang rosa where he lived till 1901 . But having bought a farm on the Woodend Road, he sold his house and built a new ore on the farm. He was for 5 years a member of the Rang. B.or. Coun. In addition to farmin he dea lt in stock and had a bacon factor 4. In 1909 he built an other house on Rang. East Belt where he lived to the end of his life. He spoke at the Woodend - Wes.
