Marks/Inscriptions: G. 23 Gammack or Gammick , John A was a hal brother to Alfred Core and his partner in Braemar and other stations and his last manager (says Acland.) He was popularly known as "Lord John ' . kept great style and was the Bean Brimm ell of the dist. He drove a tandem and had , as his town house 'Reversklea near Temuka. He used to send word up to the station to say when he was to be expected and for a man to be at Burkes Pass. Gradually he came down in the world, losing heart from repeated reverses and came to a pathetic end in Sydney. (Gillespie) In May 76 he bought Balmoral station, Mccl renzi County from Alfred Cox -50000 ac. 12000 sheep price £11000 . He also bought R damar which he named. In 8 2 he was in trouble with his Mackenzie County Rins and they had passed into the possession of the Loan Co. of which Fred he Cren was the local manager. Gammack was made manager for the Loan Co of New lands and Balmoral . He still had Braemar. He was dismissed from his post as manager 1.7.82. George Ales was put in charge of Balmoral. Braemar was mortgaged to the Hon. - William son of Auck., and Le Cren took charge of Braemar for Williamson Gammack seed the Wan Co for £200 and dau ages for non payment o of his salary as manager and failed in his suit. An appeal against the finding was heard in Auck. ; it want against him. Marks/Inscriptions: G. 22 J. Gammack. 2. In about '75 he had bought the 40000 ac gun originally taken up by Sir John Hall, from Cox. Cox kept the remaining part of Balmoral and worked it from Castle Hill.
