Marks/Inscriptions: E 91 Ellis, Godfrey wentworth (1853- was born at Dewsbury , Yorks the son of Joseph Ellis , brickmaker and came out w ith his parents in the Clontarf. arriving Jam. 59. His father settled at Timaru and carried on with his trade and also started a carrying business ie which his son helped as soon as he left school . In '97 he took over this business and carried it on until '93 , when he bought a large livery stable and plant in Beswick St. Timaru. He carried it on 1ill 31.7.01. He was for a time Sanitary Inspector for the Levels C.C. and then took farming. He was a keen cricket r and played other games.
