Marks/Inscriptions: F. 50 Edmonds , John Thomas (1839-1924) was born near Pen sane , Cornwall He was a mason and arrived by the Tiptree 20.1.64. with his wife wto Mary aged 20. He employed in managing the Heathcote + toon Hay quarries. He supplied the foundation stone for the Ch.Ch. Cathedral and the heaving stone on which Godley s stature stands ; also the stones for Mrs Godley s well on the Bridle Path. He joined the ferm of Goos + o timber merchants and was afterwards in business on his own account. He was a keen methodist and held mary important offices in the Durham St. Meth. Church.
