Marks/Inscriptions: B 600 Bowen Charles (1804 -71). When he applied to the Canty Assoc y a land inder he gave his rams address as Milver ton Crescent, Leamington. He and his wife, his sister Anne his dau Letitia and his two sons came out in the Charlotte Jane. The Bowers were a family of Wilsh origin descended f Jon Robert son of John ap Owen who in 1578 was granted land in Ireland. C.C. Bowen was born at Milford, Co. Mayo and that was poresoumdbvly the Bower home , a s Clas B oven called his home in Fendalton , Milford ; This was R.S. 94. Apart from the fact that he succeeded Eimen as speaker of the Prov. Coun in 55 there is vey lett e to say about Wim . He resigned his office at the end of '64 year and returned to England the following. The Bowers were said to be the first people to set up a carriage in Ch Ch. Ile Lylt. Marks/Inscriptions: B. 600 Chas. Bowen speaker, Mr Charles Bowen, a man somewhat passed the meridian of life of middle stature and fair complexion, in whose countenance is happily blended an expression of that gentleness and firmness so requisite to his office and the consitent exhibition of which no doubt has led to his trifold election as speaker. Mr Bowen in his office is everything that can be desired. In committee he rarely speaks and then more on points of form than as an original thinker; but he is always listened to with respect and makes a decided impression on his auditors." 19.11.1829 marr.
