Marks/Inscriptions: B. 461 Bishop, David came out in the Duke of Portland which arrived 26.9.51 He was a shoemaker b. 1830 and married on board during the voyage Mary A. Chambers. He went over the hill to Ch Ch with some others ard they went back by the Maori Bush. He was exhausted and sat down to rest p by Willocks homestead where his body was later found. an inquest was held 31.10.51. According to Dr. Gundry" s Journal his body was ust fond until 28 days) f his1 disappearance. Dr. G. was one of the jury. The widow said there were four So reigns in the heel of his lefont boot and this was found to be true adl so establishing identity. The Rev. O. Mathias was foreman of the jury .
