Marks/Inscriptions: B. 443 Bird, george (1836 -99) was gazetted station in an age of the Telegraph Dept. Lylt. Mar. 64. He became Provincial Telegraph managua and was largely responsible for getting the line over to the West Coast. It was finished Early in '6 at a cost of £7500. He became Inspector of Telegrap hs and made some rough journeys to the West Coast. He left the Got. service about '76 and became licensee of the Criterion Hotel in Glos. St. He then took up journalism and was on the staff of the Press for over twenty years. . He was the Mag. Com t reporter. marr. Annie Doherty, at R.C. Church , Ch.
