Marks/Inscriptions: B.410 Bethune, J.C. was a barrister at. law. Midd te Temple w and was mar aging der k for Hart and Buckley , Solicit ors of Wgtn. He was gazetted Registrar of Deeds for Canty, Mar. 67. In June he became Registrar of hands or the dist. of Canty. This was under the new hand Registration Act. In Feb. 68 he became Commissioner of Stamps in succession to Georg Bowron in addition to being Land Registrar. For two years after he became Registrar, no land was registered. The act was not comp u sony and land buyers wee shy of an experimental actr According to the Lylt. Tics by 69 he hed left the Colony and no successor had been appointed.
