Marks/Inscriptions: F. 15. Allen . Joseph (1842- 1908) was born 10.1.42 at H elston, Cornwall and was educ . at the C. o f E. school these and learnt farming. He came out to Canty. in the Accruing ton arriving 9.9.63. He started as a contract carter and in '65 went to the W. Coast gold fields. He soon returned to Canty. and took up a block of land in partnership with Gilbert a shipmates al Dunsandel. In '67 he bought 107 ac near Kaiapoi and ran it as a dairy farm . He later bought 479 ac. L.1.P. near Waihao Forks on the banks of the waihao River and made his home thery marr. in '77 Emily a dau of Henry Symons of Cornwall family 5 sons. he d. 26.12.08 aged 67.
