Marks/Inscriptions: p. 54 Ackman, Colne Campbell (1820- 1906) He was known as Colin and his brother J. o as Sandy . Acland Says that C.C. and J.C. took up Mt. Four raps before 1857 and sold it to J.D. Lance . It is impossible to Say When y were in partnership ; an it appears that they were in partnership in they w in the early days br.t never after : . went over to the West Coast in '6 Both brothers were in partnership with Com Wilson until the partnership lap sed until opp in July 66. acland says J.C. was one of the earliest lieutenants in the C.V.C but when that Corps was formed C.C. was elected a Cent, and J.C. A coretta From July 66 C.C. was dong all the business under his own name and his office was in Cashel St , Ballantyne later took ib over. the Ark ans had a wharf and goods shed at the Heathcote. They had the business of the Heathcote Ot Ferry and paid a ferryman to look after the pent and collect the tolls. C.C. specialised in im por ting timber and Selling it b auction . He was a director of the Canty. Agricultural Produce F b.y a export Co . in sept. 67. At the ChCh show of '67 he won prizes for turkeys and ducks . He was bankrupt in Jan. 70 with a deficiency of L. 2400. He became Robert Wilkins Auctioneer in Nov. 72 ; Wilkin was at that time building up a stocks station agency and had regular sales of wool an d Skins. C.C. was an auditor for the Canty A. +P. Assoc. C.C. was the brother who lived in Ackman6 Road not J.C. he marr. at the house of Mrs Williams , Market Place, Chu 27.1.64 Isabella. aged 20 , 3' dau of John Williams of Dunf er lima, Scotland. He father had died of heart farlie when Walking over the Bridle Track the furst time. his only son Colin Campbell joined Anders on + Co , then farmed at the Sound near Picton; then moved 1o Palmerston North where he retired. He marr. Bertha Harwood. dee Mary. ok her B. o . At Canty Coll. tang ht in the Gals High School , marr. 16.5.94 Wm. Francis John Anderson of Napier. dai. Emily . marr. Wm. Harding of Both Wicks Hastings and later of Murray, Roberts + Co. He had a nephew H.A. Black son of John Black of Forfarshire who d. 15.2.6 7 aged21 In his old age he was living a retired lefe at a fame at Oto Ka. His wife died 29.7.17 aged 74 at Wairere Endeavour Inlet.
