Marks/Inscriptions: A.26. Adams, Jonathan Charles (1847- was born at Ply mouth England and was a scholar of Winchester College. He went on to exeter Collge b ford where he got his B.A. He came out to Auckland in '73 in the "Wave Dun " and settled in Tara nakai. He had a private school in New Preynon the for + years . He taught in Pub le Schools in Parietal and Wellesley St: Auckland and was headmaster in succession of the Riverton and Waimate High Schools. In '93 he was appointed to Hie headmaster ship of the boys dept. of the Normal school, ChCh. He was lecturer in school manag ment there. He was the first deputy - Chairman of the Canty Coll. Bd. of Governors undre the Amid ing act o 1908 , was elected Chairman in 1910 and served till failing heath. ; compelled hs retirement in 1918 . He took a live interest in the Academie side of the Colleg which benefited by his experienced judgement. He represented the Bd. of Gov. oa tho Seale 1915- 24. No other member has ever given So much time and labour as he died after his Are ment ronn his pro kissin . He was on An intimate footing with student acp vit in athletes and socalled s He himself had been a notable performer at cricket. foot ball, roving and s.winning (not to mention billiards) .
