Marks/Inscriptions: D. 8 Acland Thomas Dyke (1 84 7 -9o) born 3.7.4 to . He was the Eldest son of the Rev. Leopold Dyke Acland , Vicar of Broad clist, Devonshire. He was educated at Plug y - and came out to N.Z in '65. His father was an elder brother of Bs Acland of Mt. Pil and he naturally went there as a cadet. His son ho Acland says that Chudleigh , Torn Acland and J. Bell got to the head of both Manches of the Clyde and were probably the first people to get on the 1ce thea. He appears in the newspapers as a member of the Canty. Rowing Club, as a cricket er and as a good pigeon shot. He won a b.g pigeon shooting match at Slam in May '73 .
