This photograph shows the Baptist Church located on the corner of Oxford Terrace and Madras Streets. The original church was built in 1881 and officially opened the following year. The interior of the church underwent refurbishment in the late 1980s shortly after this photograph was taken. The church was badly damaged during the 2010-2011 Canterbury earthquakes and had to be demolished.
