One grey glass model of a female squid with two backward pointing elongated tentacles featuring metal and/or glass spikes on the suckers. Has one large leaf shaped wing on its head and two green metal wire supports. Made by Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka between 1863 and 1882.

Museum Director Julius von Haast purchased these models from Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka in 1882. The Dresden based father and son duo, produced thousands of glass models of invertebrate and botanical specimens. Inspired by live organisms and technical drawings produced by leading biologists, the Blaschka models were prized for their fine detail.
