Biography
The Waimangaroa Pipe Works were established in 1893 by the well-known Christchurch brickmaker William Neighbours, and his son. The firm produced mainly bricks and pipes, but made a small number of hand-thrown and press-moulded pieces, mostly for private order, as well as a line of bread crocks, and large, lidless containers with lugs and applied floral decoration – these were made during the 1930s-40s. The domestic lines were probably discontinued after 1945.
