James Murray

Biography
Celebrated chronometer and watch maker who carried on business at the Royal Exchange and later Cornhill from about 1814 - 1859. After the Royal Exchange was destroyed by fire in 1838 James Murray carried on a successful business at 30 Cornhill; he was succeeded by by his two sons, James and John. James (junior) afterwards went to to India where he established a successful business in Calcutta where he died in 1892.
