Description
Seated figure of a beggar, clad in yellow/orange/green turban, dark beard and moustache, dark, multi-coloured robesand holding in left hand a tambourine, right arm outstreched to viewer with hand cupped; sitting on yellow striped rug on pink "brick" base. Royal Doulton backstamp and cypher for post 1932, "Mendicant" H.N.1365; impressed mould numbers 629 and 2; ink B.
Figurine designed by Leslie Harradine for Royal Doulton and produced at the Burslem factory, Nile Street, Stoke-on-Trent. The original colourway HN1355 was in production 1929-38; this version HN1365, produced 1929-69.
