Description
Earthenware small round plate with Greek transfer motifs.
Imitation "Etruscan" ware.
Concave with 28mm rim; rim gilt edged with combined dot-and-lozenge, and Greek wave border; white glaze on rim and base; matt black glaze on surface with central transfer Greek motif of 3 seated men listening to singer with a lyre [see also other pieces with 4 listeners]. Slight pink cast/ shading.
Backstamp: "Old Greek" Fenton Ware. [Within inverted triangle] S.Maw.Son. & Sons. Ltd. London. England. M [within circle].
