Description
Portion (17 pieces) of pink, mid 19th century dinner set with 11 plates, 2 dishes on high stands and 4 dishes with small stands.

PLATES: 235 mm diameter, edges approx. 29 mm high. Gold and yellow raised border design (interlocking bands with curled edges). Inclined edge of plate is pink coloured, approx. 35 mm width. Sunken centre section is edged with 2 gold bands and has a circular gold ring in centre approx.
77 mm diameter. On reverse is inscription: "2 3719".
Extensive wear around the edges of the plates and the gold ring on the centre section is worn off partially or almost completely in most cases. One plate has a chipped edge.
All stamped with one 5-pointed star and the number 1/ a bar.

DISHES ON HIGH PEDESTALS: 225 mm diameter, 235 mm diameter including handles; top section approx. 30 mm deep; 137 mm high; width at base of pedestal 116 mm. Top section has similar design to plates except that on each side the border design arches out in two places to form handles with hollowed-out centres. Pedestal is rounded at base and shaped into 4 broad curves with design around edge similar to that on plate edge. Pink section extends three quarters of way up stem to relief section of yellow and gold with vertically oriented motif in general style of edgings. Top of relief finished with gold band and another small gold band appears in middle of section where pedestal joins to dish. Inscription on bottom of pedestal "2 3719".
Glazing less worn than on plates. Stamped: two 5-pointed stars and no. 4.

DISHES ON LOW STANDS: 225 mm diameter, 235 mm diameter including handles; 57 mm high; top section approx. 25 mm deep; width at base of pedestal 130 mm. Dish section similar to plates and dishes on pedestals. Low stand is basically circular with 4 broad curved sections. Gold and yellow edge design more simple than on high pedestal and pink section extends up to base of dish. Underside inscribed with "2 3719" and stamped with two 5-pointed stars and the no. 4. Glazing slightly worn but less so than with the plates.
Generally in good condition except for wearing-off of designs.
