Wing Commander John Claydon played a vital role during the Trans Antarctic Expedition (TAE) 1956-1958. The expedition remained a high point in his career as a distinguished pilot and he continued to be involved in Antarctica, advocating for the recognition of all those involved and for the preservation of the TAE huts.: Wg Cdr John Claydon
