First Day Cover: Malta Self-Government 1947 Stamps

Description
One first day cover with nine affixed Malta postage stamps. Five stamps are affixed to the front of the envelope: one penny (Verdala Palace); two pence (Victoria and the Citadel, Gozo); two and a half pence (De L'Isle Adam Entering Mdina); three pence (St. Johns Co-Cathedral); and four and a half pence (Mnajdra Temple). Four stamps are affixed to the back of the envelope: two one and a half pence (Neolithic Hypogeum); two pence (Victoria and the Citadel, Gozo); and two shillings (Mdina). Each stamp is overprinted 'SELF-GOVERNMENT 1947'. There are three 'VALLETTA MALTA' postmarks on the front of the envelope, and two on the back. One postmark has a '53' visible. Also on the back is a partially legible 'SYDNEY AIR 53B' postmark. Also affixed to the front of the envelope is an air mail stamp, and a registered mail 'R VALLETTA (MALTA) No 0578' stamp.
