Description
Fawn cotton sewing kit with sections inside designed to store sewing repair items. Rolls up and tied together with webbing tapes. Contains two reels of cotton (one white, one black); fabric flap with two needles and one safety pin; red plastic thimble; dark and light grey woollen plait in paper wrapper (darning wool); two small balls of off white wool. Text in black ink on inside "H N Sandford, 710083". The number is Neil Sandford's CMF (Commonwealth Monitoring Force) number from military service. Taken to Antarctica and used during the International Geophysical Year expedition 1956 - 59.
