Description
Bronze medallion in wooden case minted for the 50th anniversary of New Zealand in Antarctica. Obverse has relief of Scott Base with Mount Erebus in background and a dog sled team, skidoo with trailer, Hagglund All Terrain vehicle and Fergusson tractor on the sea ice in front of the base. Reverse has relief outline map of Antarctica showing the Ross Dependency (Ross Sea region) and overlaid with Hercules and Twin Otter aircraft and Coastguard and Cargo ships. Case has wooden framed lid with dark blue insert printed with gold New Zealand Antarctic Society logo. Inside lid is printed with blue Moller & Young, Christchurch logo. Limited edition of 300 of which this one is 150.
