Description
Famille Noir Chinese vase, decorated with raised relief figures of the eighteen sacred Lohans. Figures in vigorous multicoloured pastel, black body may have later overpaint. Interior has light turquoise green glaze. Seal on base reads “Ta Ching, Chien Lung…” indicating vase made during the reign of Chien Lung, Qing dynasty, 1735 – 95. Note however wooden stand is now attached to base
