Blouse in pure handkerchief lawn both plain and embroidered with frills of cotton val lace. Original buttons most probably in 'o' p. Such dainty tops where a great feature of the 1940s, well into the 1950s. K19 1950 (MRM).
Neckline: Snuggly fits to the base of the throat, rounded. Faced with approximately 1cm wide bias strip of plain white lawn.
Collar: One piece, 6cm deep at widest point of fabric but the entire outside edge of the collar is edged in 1.5cm wide fine white machine lace.
Bodice Style: Semi fitted.
Sleeve Style: Inset, one piece, full length. At the wrist is a 1.5cm wide casing of self fabric which covers three rows of machine gathering. The inside arm seam is finished 5cm from the end of the sleeve and this was originally closed by a button/buttonhole situated at the inside edges of the casing (button missing). Below the casing is a 2.5cm wide frill of the remaining sleeve material which is edged with the same type of lace as the rest of the blouse.
Waistline: Loose, undefined.
Seams: Machine sewn, white cotton thread.
Edges: Armhole machine plain sewn white cotton thread (some of the stitching on the left armhole has run off the edge). Rest of blouse encase seams (french?).
