Saw, woodcutters

Production date
Circa 1900
Description
Wood framed woodcutters saw. Cheeks curve from widest point at web (saw blade) to top, where rud and turnbuckle arrangement creates inward tension which in turns tensions the blade. Stretcher across middle is strengthened by four metal plates nailed to cheeks and stretcher. Blade, or web, is 715mm long, 45mm thick and is held in slots on both cheeks by single screws. One cheek continues 145mm past the blade bottom to form curved handle. Blade is fixed and cannot be pivotted. (Tensioner possibly a "Clipper Loop Bucksaw Rod").
